Notes About Homework
All homework should be completed in your sketchbook. You should bring your sketchbook to class every week and be prepared to discuss your work in an open class critique. All homework is listed in the below posts and due the following week it was assigned. Example: homework assigned on week 1 is due on week 2.
Week 1 Homework
Think about how you will represent God creating. Write down your ideas and thoughts about how you are going to draw God creating: the earth, darkness, light, water, land, Adam, Eve, etc. (Genesis 1 and/or 2) pick one verse, or a part of a verse. This will be a final for the class. As the class progresses so will this idea. All projects will be part of an exhibit. An example is shown below.
Week 2 Homework
Do 10 gradation scales: 5 using blended lines and 5 using hard lines. Sketch a minimum of 6 of each of the basic shapes; spheres, cubes, cylinders, and cones. These all must be of equal size and hand drawn, no templates or tracings. All must be at least 3" x 3" (no small shapes). They should be solid lines, use your eraser to create a single line. The more practice you get at this the better they will be. Hold your pencil as shown in class for better control. See examples below.
Week 3 Homework
Draw 2 of each of the basic shapes, shade them with light and shadow, one each blended lines and hard lines. Take your time. Using at least 3 basic shapes of your choice, you can repeat them if you want, come up with a design utilizing the positive negative technique. See examples below.
Week 4 Homework
Draw a cell phone in 1 or 2 point perspective with at least one other object in the background or foreground. Thus your cell phone should be in the mid ground. See an example below.
Week 5 Homework
Take any of the Proverbs and do an illustration of its meaning. Start to finalize your Genesis ideas for final presentation due in 3 weeks. Example is below.
Week 6 Homework
Draw the skull 3/4 view and draw your left or right hand and shade it utilizing basic form shading techniques. Your choice of blended or hard lines or a combination of both. See an example below.
Week 8 Homework
Continue to practice all techniques learned in the class. The more practice you get the better you will be. Great job everyone. =D
